"I Look Back and Can't Believe How Calm I Stayed"

"Hello! I just wanted to let you know that our little boy arrived safely on Tuesday morning at 6.41, 8lb5 and he is absolutely thriving and so unbelievably chilled! I was induced on Sunday with a 24hr pessary and they thought I may need further pessaries but they examined me the next day and I was dilated enough for them to break my waters! They took me down to delivery and broke them at around 11pm and the contractions intensified almost immediately! At this point I thought I would need an epidural but had diamorphe and just rolled on my birthing ball calmly with a good playlist on and by 2.30am I was fully dilated! I ended up needing the ventouse suction but I look back now and can’t believe how calm I stayed throughout the whole thing, no panic, no tears, no shouting just breathing and focusing! And I think all that may be what’s contributing to “A’s” complete relaxation! He is an absolute dream and I do put it all down to you!! Thank you so much for everything! I must admit I didn’t practice as much as I should have done but everything we discussed stayed with me! Xxx” - Francis

Before anything, I encourage you to schedule an initial meeting where we can get to know each other a little to know if we would be the "right fit". Giving birth is a very personal and intimate experience so having the right person there to support you is vitally important and can make all the difference.
This is a no obligation meeting, If you go on to book me as your birth doula, here are the details of what's included in a basic package.
As your birth doula,

Before Birth:
I prefer to meet with you and your partner at
least twice before labour starts and as early
in pregnancy as possible. The first meeting is
usually used for getting to know each other,
to explore and discuss your priorities, any fears
or concerns, and to plan how we might best
work together.

During the second meeting we usually look at your birth preparation and I acquaint you with some of the comfort measures I have found helpful in the past. At this time I will emphasise how your partner and you can work together and also discuss the position of your baby and how you can help your baby to engage well in readiness for birth. I want to become familiar with your birth plan, including your preferences regarding management options and your views on pain relief. I also want to know about your natural coping-mechanisms and how your partner and I could help with these.

During Birth:
I will be on call for you from 38 weeks of pregnancy (earlier if you go into labour).

After conversing with you over the phone we will decide together on the best course of action. Even if you go into hospital I prefer to meet you at home where possible.
Except for circumstances out of my realm of influence, I will remain
with you throughout labour, birth and bonding offering physical and
emotional support as and when needed and (breast) feeding help
if wanted.

Postnatally:
I would have one visit with you within one or two weeks after the
birth to see how you are doing, admire your baby and listen to you
and your partner’s side of the story. I would also be available to you for consultation by phone or email during the first six weeks after birth.

(Packages can be tailored to your specific wants/requirements so extra antenatal or postnatal visits can be added as well as including the full hypnobirthing course.)
